It seems ridicule will always follow Harry Maguire. From been ridiculed inside the Ghana Parliament, to Arsenal fans jumping out of their seats with joy when he prepares to make his way in the match.
As if this is not enough, Maguire has since fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United, with Manager Erik ten Hag stripping him of the captaincy, and falling short of naming him “unwanted”.
But it is not all gloomy for the player who has since earned the moniker ‘Lord Maguire’. Despite his woes at Old Trafford, he excels in the England national football team.
In Gareth Southgate’s eyes, ‘Lord Maguire, has favour, and that is why he is an ever-present in the England national team. Not just ever-present, but a starter, martialing the Three Lion’s defence to a World Cup semi-final in 2018, Euro Cup final in 2020 and the quarter finals in 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

On Saturday, September 10, Maguire was the leader in defence as England shared the spoils with Ukraine in a Uefa Euro qualifying match.
He was seen closely marking Marc Guehi as Ukraine took the lead via a well-taken goal by Arsenal’s Zinchenko.
Nonetheless, England still lead Group C with 13 points, with Ukraine sitting second with 7 points.
