Manchester United defender Harry Maguire now says has been winning a lot under head coach Erik ten Hag – in what appears to be a defence towards his United record.
Speaking on international duty with England, Maguire admitted that he may consider leaving the club in search of regular football but insists that his win percentage under the Dutch manager is ‘ridiculously high’.
“My record under this manager speaks for itself. I haven’t started as many games as I like [for United], but my win percentage when I’ve played is ridiculously high. Of course, there are times when I could do more,” he said.
The 30-year-old has fallen in the pecking order at Old Trafford, playing a secondary role to Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof.
As the fourth-choice center-back for the English champions, Maguire started only four league matches last season, relinquished the captaincy to Bruno Fernandes, and the situation hasn’t improved this season – as academy graduate Jonny Evans has rejoined the club – but he is unbowed.
“It’s not my decision to whether I start the next game or not. I’m unsure about that. If you look back on my last 15-20 starts for club and country, I would be happy to sit here and say I’m really happy with my performances,” Magure said.

Harry Maguire: I’m sure I will play a lot of games for Man United
A month ago, Maguire said he was confident about playing more games for the club after his summer transfer to West Ham fell through.
In an interview with the Express, Maguire revealed that he endured a challenging period on the bench but is hopeful that his situation will improve following his performances with the England national team.
“The first four weeks were tough because it was one game a week, and the manager didn’t select me, but we have many games coming up now, and I am sure I will play a lot,” Maguire stated.
