The family of slain activist Richard Otieno is now demanding answers from the authorities on what happened to their kin.
Richard Otieno, is alleged to have been murdered by unknown assailants on his way home on Saturday night just 200 metres from Elburgon police station.
At the home of Richard Otieno, Sorrow and grief was evident.
His wife, Margaret Mwihaki, who has not come to terms with her husband’s demise, narrates the fateful night she lost her dear husband.
“It was on Saturday at 11:36 pm when my husband called me and asked me to open the door for him as he was on his way home, but after some few minutes ,we heard someone screaming from outside. My inlaw and I went checking and that’s when we realized it was Richard,” Margret said.
“My husband was lying on the ground, he had injuries in the head and was severely bleeding,” she added.
The 31 year old woman and a mother of two says two days prior to his death, Otieno had reported to her that his life was in danger. He expressed fears that 3 people had followed him on his way home.
“On Thursday when he came home, he told me some three people were following him suspiciously, and he said he felt he was in danger,” Margaret said.
His sister Roselino Otieno noted that they were not aware of her brother’s whereabouts, adding that Otieno had been severally attacked, accusing the area MP Kuria Kimani of having a hand in the matter.
“There’s no way I will be convinced that Kuria Kimani has no hand in this, this is not the first time my brother was attacked and the attackers are known,” Roselino lamented.
She revealed that her brother was an upcoming politician and an activist who criticized the government, and his dreams had been cut short.
As the family seeks justice for their kin, they are still not aware of where their kin’s body is, after it was allegedly taken away by police officers.
At the same time, family members claimed that no investigations have been conducted in relation to Otieno’s murder.
“Until now we have not seen any progress on the investigation, not even forensic detectives coming home to ask anything, we want investigations done thoroughly and answers provided to our many questions,” she said.
