The family of Ronald Oyombe, aged 48 has been thrusted into mourning following their kin’s sudden demise. Mwalimu Ronald was involved in a road accident hours after he had reported to the new school he had been posted.
Ronald reportedly died on the spot after a truck rammed his motorbike at night. This happened along Migori-Sori Road at around 8:00pm.
Ronald was headed home from Gogo Primary School when his life was cut short. “The truck hit him hard on the head, and broke his right leg, killing him on the spot,” said Richard Oyombe, the family spokesperson.
“According to witnesses, the truck only had one headlight working, and it is possible that the deceased might have mistook it for a motorbike.”
In an attempt identify him at the accident scene, a witness recognised his name ‘Oyombe’ as one of Ronald’s cousin shared the same name.
His cousin, who resides in Nairobi, is the one who was informed of the accident and conveyed information to the rest of the family.
“So, one of the respondents recognised the name ‘Oyombe’ written on the leaving certificate, and called our cousin who is in Nairobi, who shares the surname, and who in turn called home to inform us of the accident,” said Richard.
From Ronald’s phone messages, he had withdrawn money from his Mpesa but the money was allegedly stolen at the accident scene.
“This is a great tragedy to the family and the teaching fraternity. Mr Oyombe was a loving dad to his children, a kind hearted man, eloquent, hardworking and very friendly,” added Richard.
“He has left behind six children and two wives, one of his daughters is set to sit for KCSE exams from October.”
His bodies lies at Migori District Hospital Morgue and is slated for burial on September 27.
