Health Cabinet Secretary nominee Debra Barasa on Thursday August 1, 2024 disclosed that her combined net worth together with her husband is Ksh455 million.
The Health CS nominee made the remarks when she appeared before the National Assembly committee on appointment for vetting.
“My net worth is a combination of mine and my husband and it is Sh.455,845M,” said Dr. Debra Barasa.
Speaking during the vetting, Debra exuded her commitment to championing reforms in the health sector once approved for the cabinet position.
“We need to strengthen our regulatory system to ensure that we provide quality, top-notch and highly experienced health workers who are able to work in other international spaces,” she said.
The Health CS nominee added that she was a strong supporter of Linda Mama program and would like to incorporate the same in SHIF.
At the same time, she was tasked to explain how she will ensure smooth running of activities in the Health sector since health is a devolved function.
“I believe we need to involve the national and county team to have an open dialogue on the weakness and threats and come up with priority interventions.We see where the mandate of national and county level stops,” she said.
She also emphasized the need to address the issue of doctors’ strike, which has been a challenge by involving key stakeholders to develop a workable action plan.
