The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Saturday, September 23 revealed it has obtained a court order to freeze bank accounts and assets worth Ksh2 billion, belonging to former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
The commission disclosed in a statement that the High Court issued orders to freeze the bank accounts and assets of Waititu and his wife Susan Wangari over corruption allegations.
In its ruling delivered on Thursday, September 21, the Court determined that the Waititus have a case to answer in the Ksh588 million tender scam.
“In addition, EACC has since obtained orders from the High Court freezing the family’s unexplained wealth amounting to nearly Ksh2 billion pending the ongoing civil suit seeking orders for forfeiture of the said assets to the State,” EACC noted in a statement.
The court also ruled that the eight other co-accused persons, who were being investigated alongside Waitittu will be charged in court.
Waititu, his wife, and daughter together with eight others are facing charges relating to offenses committed when Waititu served as Kiambu County Governor.
