Homa Bay: 2-year-old boy in hospital after being assaulted by his father

A two and a half year old boy is recovering at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital after allegedly being assaulted by his biological father in a disturbing case of domestic violence.

Brutal Attack After Domestic Dispute
The incident reportedly occurred following a heated argument between the suspect and the child’s mother, a Form Four student at Pap Ndege Secondary School.

In the aftermath of the dispute, the father allegedly turned his anger on the innocent child, inflicting multiple injuries before fleeing the scene.

Distressed neighbors intervened, and the boy’s grandmother, Majuma Yago Agunga, rushed him to the hospital, where medical personnel have been working to stabilize his condition.

Hospital and Police Response
Dr. Vincent Oduor, Chief Executive Officer of Homa Bay Referral Hospital, confirmed that while the child is in stable condition, he remains under close observation.

He condemned the attack and urged parents to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence especially against vulnerable children.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large. Children’s rights advocates and local leaders have joined calls for swift justice, emphasizing the urgent need for stronger protection for minors.

A Call to End Child Abuse
Community welfare groups have stepped in to offer counseling and support to the boy’s mother.

Dr. Oduor further urged members of the public to report cases of child abuse and domestic violence, stressing that silence enables such acts to continue.

As police intensify efforts to apprehend the suspect, the case has ignited discussions on the need for better child protection laws and stricter enforcement to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
