The night of Tuesday January 30th 2024 took a twist of events for activist Derrick Mbugua, who is known for helping the needy.

The true fighter for social and economic justice for the oppressed in the 254 as he titles himself, was turned down by a homeless man.

The man who introduced himself as Mutoko from Murang’a County, has been sleeping in the busy Thika Road tunnel in Pangani area in Nairobi.

Mbugua, accompanied by his crew visited the man, who slept inside a sack at the edge of the road.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, Mbugua is heard trying to convince Mutoko to follow him as he wanted to help him acquire a home.

However, his efforts bore no fruit.

“We don’t like the fact that you sleep here along the tunnel where vehicles pass at such high speeds,” said Mbugua.

The well wisher went ahead and offered him cash but Mutoko would peep through his cap and shook his head in disagreement.

“You don’t want an offer for a house where you can stay? This is a risky place to stay but you don’t want to leave this place.”

Mbugua and his friends left in disappointment as Mutoko was left sleeping in his usual spot.

He called on his family who might recognize him to come to his rescue.

However, Mbugua’s efforts was commended by many who praised his persistence.
