Lang’ata MP Felix Oduor, famously known as Jalang’o was on Monday September 9, 2024 beaten up by a group of Kibra youth.
This happened during an inspection of the ongoing construction of the 4,054-unit Kibera Soweto East Affordable Housing Project in Kibera, Nairobi County.
Why MP Jalang’o was beaten up by the youths
A group of angry youths were seen grabbing MP Jalang’o, beating him and dragging behind his bodyguards.
The bodyguards could not withstand it and were forced to push him into his car.
According to the youth, Jalang’o does not play his role as an MP as expected and he does not meet his promises.
Among the leaders present were President William Ruto, Housing CS Alice Wahome, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Woman Rep Esther Passaris and Lang’ata MP Felix.
Demands of the residents
The residents requested for water supply and employment opportunities for the youth.
Meanwhile, Sakaja assured the residents that young people will be employed and water will be supplied.
Other leaders present said that additional 4,000 housing units will be constructed to accommodate families that were moved from riparian reserves in Nairobi County.
