How bodaboda rider, 23, was brutally attacked by 2 panga-wielding customers

Police in Wakiso and Bulenga areas, Uganda, have arrested two individuals in connection to the aggravated robbery case involving a bodaboda rider.

The whole incident started when Amanya Joel and one Ibrah hired one Felix Muganzi to transport them to Nakuwade area in the early morning of April 2, 2024.

But upon reaching a secluded area, Amanya and Ibrah are said to have mercilessly attacked Muganzi with a panga, attempting to rob him of his motorcycle (registration number of UEN 484A.)

“During the altercation, Mr. Muganzi bravely resisted, managing to overpower one of the assailants, Amanya Joel, with the assistance of local residents. Regrettably, the other perpetrator fled the scene with Mr. Muganzi’s motorcycle,” Kampala’s Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says.

The quick response from Bulenga Police Station officers led to the apprehension of Amanya and the recovery of Muganzi’s motorcycle.

“Additionally, during the investigation, the police discovered a cache of five suspected stolen motorcycles and eight motorcycle number plates at Muganda Ali Garage in Natete,” Owoyesigyire adds.

As part of Uganda Police Force’s efforts to ensure justice prevails, 11 other suspects have since been arrested.

They include; Buye Peter (18), Kizza Enock (18), Kayondo Isma (17), Ssenyondo Edward (18), Sekiwala Joseph (19), Ssempijja Mahadhi (20), Luwaga Swabul (15), Lujja Christopher (19), Sseruga Muzamir (17), Mukuye Dan (22), and Birungi Abdul Mutwalib (17).

The owner of Muganda Ali Garage, identified as Muganda Ali, still remains at large, and efforts to locate and apprehend him are underway.

“We would like to assure the public that our investigations into this matter are ongoing, and we are committed to ensuring that all individuals involved in this criminal activity are brought to justice,” the police assured Ugandans.
