How Kenyans in Texas, US celebrated 60th Jamhuri Day

Kenyans living in Texas, United States, held Jamhuri Day celebrations to mark 60 years of Kenya’s independence.

The event that happened on Saturday was officiated by Kenya’s ambassador to the US Lazarus Amayo.

Lazarus O. Amayo, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya, to the United States graced the event.

The Kenya Diaspora Advisory Council of Texas (KDAC) organised the event with a goal to keep alive the traditions and customs of this historical day.

Kenyan songs were played at the event and the attendees were served with Kenyan meals which according to the attendees, brought back the memories.

In a one on one interview, Ambassador Amayo sighted the efforts the new government is putting in place to keep a smooth relationship with Kenyans in Diaspora.

The event was also graced by Senior American Military veterans and the boys scouts who recited both the American and Kenya National Anthems.
