A specialized multi-agency team was constituted to spearhead the Alcohol Manufacturers vetting process in an exercise that began on Monday, 18th March, 2024.
This team comprises of members from the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, the Office of the Deputy President, the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, the State Department for Trade, the State Department for Labour and Skills Development, NACADA, Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya Bureau of Standards, Anti Counterfeit Authority, and NEMA.

Today, the specialised multi-agency team visited Patiala Distillers, manufacturers of Fly Horse Gin and Diamond Ice alcoholic drinks.The team walked through the entire alcohol manufacturing plant located along Airport North Road, Nairobi.This team comprises of members from the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, the Office of the Deputy President, and the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards.The team also comprises of officers from the State Department for Trade, the State Department for Labour and Skills Development, NACADA, Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya Bureau of Standards, Anti Counterfeit Authority, and NEMA.Step one of the vetting process is Confirmation of Visit: Manufacturer receives a letter confirming inspection visit by the vetting multi-agency team.Step 2 of the vetting process is KRA Breaking Seal of Closed Production Unit: This is a critical step to ensure that the production process had been closed as directed and is secure.Step 3 of the vetting process is Inspection Tour of the Premises – The vetting team conducts a thorough tour of the premises to inspect the production facilities, storage areas, and overall operational setup.
