Huddah Monroe says she doesn’t know many Kenyan celebrities

Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has once again stirred conversation with her remarks about the country’s celebrity scene.

In a candid statement, she admitted that she is unfamiliar with many Kenyan celebrities, including mistaking Masauti, a well-known Kenyan musician, for a band.

The entrepreneur, known for her beauty brand and candid social media posts, shared that she had little exposure to some of the artists dominating Kenya’s entertainment scene.

”I’m rarely in Kenya, I don’t know a lot of people. So my friends always have info”

”One day, I’m chilling with a friend, tumepiga shash mbayaaa, he insists on playing a Song by Masauti”

“I was like wanakuwanga wangapi? Dude chocked on smoke for like 30 mins”.

”literally thought Masauti was a music group”

”I honestly thought Masauti ni watu watatu & a newer version of Sauti Sol group”.

”Jamani, I’m out of touch”

”Finally he sips a 1942 and the choking stops, Dude tells me Masauti ni msee mmoja”

”That night He even made me know SEAN MMG and Lil Maina. Kenyan podcasts”

”So kazi ilikuwa kuingia IG na search, look at them boys and familiarize”

”Wueh! nilitoka hapo back to factory settings”

This is not the first time Huddah has admitted to being out of touch with Kenyan stars. In 2020, she made headlines after revealing that she didn’t know who Khaligraph Jones, one of Kenya’s most prominent rappers, was.

The statement shocked many of her followers, given Khaligraph’s influence in the music industry, both locally and internationally.

Huddah’s recent comments have once again divided public opinion. While some fans understand her lack of knowledge due to her lifestyle, which often sees her outside the country, others have questioned her support for local talent.

Despite this, the socialite continues to be a major player in Kenya’s entertainment and business scenes.

Huddah’s statement has reignited discussions about celebrity culture, the divide between the social and music scenes, and how public figures engage with their peers.

Whether or not her comments were meant to be controversial, they have certainly kept her at the center of public discourse.
