Mary Biketi, the woman whose photos with former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been circulating on social media implying that they are in a romantic relationship has stated that she did not leak them.
In an interview with local media, Biketi describes herself as a private individual and wouldn’t wish to expose the former governor in that way.
“It feels totally bad but there is nothing much I can do. At the same time, I have been receiving positive comments and I just thank God and the people out there for the encouragement.
She revealed that legal actions on the person who leaked the photos are ongoing as the photos has affected both her family and that of Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
The former Governor had also posted on his Facebook to address the photos, acknowledging them to be genuine but also expressing disapproval of their leakage saying he has a family to protect.
“I have a big family to protect so those sending out fake news should stop. Here I am, I can speak, I have no problem. I have been in Mombasa for a few days meeting my people from my own community,” he said.
Biketi went further to say that now that the photos are already out there, there isn’t much to be done.
She also admitted that she isn’t afraid of the online uproar regarding his relationship with Oparanya as he is known to be a polygamous man.
“I am not afraid. He is a polygamous man and I respect the other wives,” she said.
“Those who want to talk will talk.”
