‘I did not endorse Kalonzo for president in 2027’ Raila Odinga says

Azimio coalition has come out to clarify on the reports that the outfits leader Raila odinga had endorsed wiper party leader and Azimio co-principle Kalonzo Musyoka for presidency in 2027.

Terming it as misleading reports on the Azimio presidential candidate, the statement on the matter indicated that the Odinga was only giving praise to Kalonzo for his good deeds.

This comes at the back of Odinga’s speech on Sunday where the ODM leader heaped praise on Kalonzo.”Kalonzo has a good heart, hardworking and one you can trust, he is also a Christian. He is trustworthy and loving,” Raila said.

“In his speech, Odinga clarifies that his praises for H.E Kalonzo Musyoka for standing with him in three successive elections, his strong Christian values and the support Musyoka has built across the country was not an endorsement of Mr Musyoka as the Azimio presidential candidate in 2027,” the statement by Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango reads.

“His words of praise for Mr Musyoka were therefore not intended to mean he had or intends to quit active politics.”

“That candidate will, however, not be named until a year or just months to the 2027 election.”

In the statement Odinga highlighted that Kalonzo would floor president William Ruto in the 2027 general elections in a free and fair process as he has what it takes.

Contrary to president Ruto’s earlier statement that he would beat the Wiper party leader.

Odinga at the same time has assured his supports that he intends to be active in politics until the 2027 general elections.

The former Prime Minister noted that it is too early for any political party to name its presidential candidate as Kenyans have four years before going for the next general election.

“That candidate will, however, not be named until a year or just months to the 2027 election.”
