A presidential candidate in Nigeria’s February 2023 elections Atiku Abubakar has dismissed forgery allegations about his secondary school certificate.
Atiku who vied for the presidency in the 2023 elections has maintained that all his academic certificates are genuine.
He issued the clarification through his media aide Dele Momodu after members of the All Progressives Congress, APC questioned the credibility of his secondary school certificate.
Momodu posted a clarification on his X account, after the ruling party APC questioned Atiku’s WAEC certificate that had “Sadiq Abubakar” name.
He wrote, “The APC busybodies have been bombarding me with allegations of forgery against my Principal, Ahaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON), which I immediately forwarded to him and here is his copious response:

‘Yes I used Sadiq Abubakar to sit for my WAEC and after passing my exams I went to swear an affidavit to say I am the same person as Atiku Abubakar.
“I went to ABU as Atiku Abubakar and passed my Exams as Atiku Abubakar. Interviewed as Atiku Abubakar by the Federal Civil Service Commission and hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar. So where is forgery there?’ – Atiku Abubakar.
“Can the APC social media bullies forward the deluge of questions in circulation to their boss and get instant and direct response?” he queried.

The forgery allegations against Atiku emerged a month after he had filed similar charges against President Bola Tinubu, questioning his certificate from Chicago State University.
As a result, a Court in Chicago, United States on September 19, ordered Chicago State University (CSU) to hand over all academic records of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu to Abubakar.
The Vanguard had reported that Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was seeking the documents to prove that Tinubu was not eligible to vie for the presidency.
