Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has announced the death of his father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa.
In a statement on Sunday February 9, 2025, Kingi announced the death of his father, while sharing memories of the good time they shared in December 2024.
“Since I attained adulthood, I don’t remember ever dancing with you, Dad. Not until the 25th of December 2024 during Christmas at Mjanaheri village when, for the very first time, we danced, danced and danced together until sunset.
“Your face beamed with joy. We were not just celebrating Christmas but giving thanks to the Almighty for your remarkable recovery after years of battling many ailments.
“I didn’t know that dance would be the first and last with you, Dad,” Kingi noted in a statement posted on his X account.
In addition, the Senate Speaker praised his father for the sacrifices he made to make him who he is today.
“You taught me many valuable lessons, the biggest being never to give up no matter what. It is this lesson that has pushed me this far,” he added.
President William Ruto is among leaders who sent condolence messages to the Kingi family.
“Our condolences to the Speaker of the Senate for the loss of his dear father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa. He was respected, progressive and hardworking.
“Mheshimiwa Amason Kingi, the family and the people of Kilifi are in our prayers during this difficult time,” said President Ruto.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula also condoled Kingi’s family, promising to stand with them through the mourning period.
“I just learnt of the sunset of family Patriarch Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa. I know and understand how difficult it is having gone through the same when our mother took her sunset recently.
“We shall stand together at this difficult moment. May God’s strength and blessings shower upon you and the family,” Wetangula posted on his X account.
