“I love my children but they ruined my music career”- Lily Allen

British pop singer and songwriter Lily Allen shared in an interview with the Radio Times Podcast yesterday 12, March that having children totally ruined her music career.

Lily, a mother of two daughters, Ethel and Marnie, expressed that although her children fulfill her life, she made the sacrifice of giving up her career to be actively involved in their upbringing as they mature.

“I mean I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop stardom, totally ruined it,” she said during the interview.

The singer, 38, is the daughter of Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen and sister to of ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Alfie Allen.

She disclosed that growing up, her parents were not as present given they were in the entertainment industry too and that left some nasty scars on her.

“I am not willing to repeat that to my children, I choose steeping back and concentrating on them, and I’m glad that I have done that because they think they are pretty well-rounded people.” Lily said.

Additionally, she disclosed that it annoys her when people say you can have it all because quite frankly, you can’t.

“Some people choose their career over their children and that’s their prerogative.”

Allen currently lives in New York City with her daughters and her husband, “Stranger Things” star David Harbour, who she married in 2020.
