I took myself to EACC, former Governor Oparanya says

Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya now says that he was not arrested but rather took himself to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) offices.

Speaking to the press shortly after his release following hours of grilling by EACC detectives, Oparanya refused to answer questions bordering on the alleged loss of funds during his tenure as county boss.

He maintains that today’s developments are politically instigated.

EACC communications officer Eric Ngumbi says that Oparanya has recorded a statement in relation to the alleged misappropriation of KSh1.3 billion in Kakamega County Government during his tenure.

Oparanya will return to the EACC on a later date.
