‘I will ban homecoming events for State officers’ -Wajackoyah

Roots party leader George Wajackoyah has dismissed homecoming ceremonies for recently appointed cabinet secretaries, terming them a waste of public resources.

Speaking during an interview on national television, Wajackoyah stated that he would ban all homecoming ceremonies for State Officers.

“I am going to ban homecoming events of criminals who have become cabinet secretaries, and are now driving very expensive cars, making homecomings and saying ‘our region has been blessed’. Blessed by who? Jehovah Wanyonyi or Yesu wa Tongaren?” Wajackoyah stated.

The Roots party leader added that he does not attend such homecoming events since most of the appointed leaders had questionable reputation and corruption cases in courts but were cleared for appointment.

At the same time, Wajackoya clarified that he had not formed a coalition with any political party in the country, after being asked if he was part of Azimio.

Meanwhile, he expressed his support for Raila Odinga, saying that the Azimio leader qualifies to become the next chairperson of the African Union Commission.

The leader of Roots Party emphasized the need for Raila to concentrate on his AUC bid since the whole content is looking at him as a candidate.

However, Wajackoya evaded some questions where he was asked if President Ruto’s support for Raila’s AUC bid was a set up to finish the opposition.

According to the Roots party leader, he will be running for the presidency in the 2027 elections and he does not care what goes on in other political parties.

He also called out leaders who claim they are working with the Kenyan youth, commonly known as Gen Z, yet in real sense they are enemies of the Kenyan youth.

“Gen Zs, you need to be careful with these people. What you have done is good; I’m not going to impose myself on you, but I will support you,” he said.
