Aden Duale has thanked President William Ruto for appointing him as the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health.
President Ruto on Wednesday, March 26 re-assigned CS Duale from the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry to the crucial Ministry of Health.
The former Garissa Township MP switched dockets with Deborah Barasa Mulongo, who is now the CS for Environment.
And while acknowledging that the “prosperity of a nation depends on the health of its people”, Duale expressed deep gratitude for the trust and confidence bestowed on him by President Ruto.
“It has been an honour serving at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry, where we advanced key environmental and climate action policies. In my new role, I remain committed to working with relevant stakeholders in driving government policies that strengthen healthcare delivery, ensuring accessible and quality services for all Kenyans,” Duale said.
In his new job, Duale has prioritise the advancement of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC), a project he says will guarantee equitable healthcare access, especially for vulnerable populations.
“Health is central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), and I look forward to fostering inter-ministerial collaboration to enhance service delivery and improve lives across the nation.”
This is the third Ministry Duale has been in charge of in President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Administration. In Ruto’s first Cabinet, Duale was appointed as Defence CS. At the height of the anti-government protests in 2024, President Ruto dismissed all his CSs and the Attorney General, before he re-appointed Duale to the Ministry of Environment.
