Ian Kalu emerged as the winner of the highly anticipated second edition of Radio 47’s Talent Search, held in Nairobi County. Designed to uncover new talent, the competition called for aspiring media personalities in reporting, comedy, and music to showcase their skills. Kalu’s standout performance, marked by his engaging storytelling and solid grasp of current affairs, secured him the top spot among a talented pool of participants.
Radio 47, Kenya’s fastest-growing radio station, created this initiative to foster fresh voices that resonate with diverse audiences. “This is about more than finding new voices,” says Geoffrey Mung’ou, Head of Radio at Cape Media Limited. “We’re investing in the future of media by giving aspiring professionals a platform to grow and gain recognition.”
The selection process was rigorous. Judges sought individuals who could communicate with clarity and conciseness, captivating audiences with their delivery. A strong understanding of current affairs was essential, as was the ability to research thoroughly and present information accurately. Above all, Radio 47 sought individuals who could bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to storytelling, all while maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
