The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secretary general Cleophas Malalah has urged cabinet secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport) and Moses Kuria (Public Service) to resign if they are interested in joining politics.
In a press statement on Wednesday May 29, 2024, the UDA secretary general noted that it was wrong for cabinet secretaries to engage in politics instead of focusing on service delivery.
“It has come to my attention that some Cabinet Secretaries have been involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical.
“Hon. Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, your primary responsibility is to serve the people within your docket.
“Should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign and join the political arena,” Malala stated.
At the same time, Malala urged Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen to focus on reclamation of roads damaged by recent floods instead of participating in politics.
“Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, your focus should be on addressing the pressing issues in your ministry, particularly the reclamation of roads damaged by recent floods.
“Serve the Kenyan people or step down from your position and return to politics,” he added.
In addition, the UDA secretary general urged politicians within the ruling party to stop premature campaigns for 2032.
According to Malala, early campaigning not only distracts elected leaders from performing their responsibilities but also disrespects the trust placed in them by the electorate.
He also warned that should they continue with premature campaigns, the party will take stern disciplinary action against them.
Meanwhile, he warned Githunguri MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba, and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi for blatant disrespect to the party leadership, including the Presidency.
“My attention has been drawn to the fact that certain individuals continue to show blatant disrespect to the party leadership, including the Presidency.
“This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated within the realms of our Party.
“I specifically address recent public sentiments and actions of Githunguri MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba, and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi,” he stated.
