The festive seasons began not so long ago. It is a season of celebration, where folks get to have a sit-down with their families and friends , drink have fun and enjoy the holidays.
In Kenya , we tend to do it quite differently. It is a country of variety of cultures and religions that add their own flavors to Christmas celebrations. One unique aspect is the integration of traditional African customs into the festivities.
Christmas being a time that families come together to live, laugh, love and spend time with their loved ones , it can positively or negatively impact their lives.

The festivities can also be a financial strain to the Kenyan society which in itself impacts lives negatively in terms of their financial well being.
Christmas celebrations in Kenya are usually characterized by alcohol consumptions which lead to accidents due to drunk driving.
There is also a high increase of crime as people take advantage of the festive season to rob innocent civilians. So during this time , as a community we should keep in mind ours and other people’s wellbeing.
As we pack our bags and take a drive to the countryside ,”ushago” , we ought to be careful on the roads.
It is better for drivers to be careful on the roads and follow the road safety measures to avoid high mortality rates during the festivities.
