In case of Ruto-Gachagua fallout, Kindiki is the most likely replacement in 2027 – Poll

In case of a fallout between President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki is the most likely candidate to be the former’s running mate in 2027 General Election.

CS Kindiki enjoys a 50.2 percent approval rating compared to several other politicians, according to the latest survey by Politrack Africa.

Notably, Kindiki was one of the front-runners in the 2022 General Election for the running mate slot.

The survey delved into the regional dynamics and how they might shift in response to the evolving political situation. It revealed that 75% of respondents were aware of differences within the presidency.

In addition, the poll asked if Gachagua would be successful in a 2027 presidential candidacy.

Eighty-two percent of the respondents said it would be extremely unlikely for him to win, while two percent said it would probably happen.

However, the survey also showed that the Mt Kenya region will become less supportive of the President’s party as a result of the rift between Gachagua and Ruto.

Fifty-three percent of those surveyed said the consequences will impact UDA’s standing in the vote-rich region. Six percent of the respondents said they were unsure, compared to 41% who had a different opinion.

Azimio-One Kennya Coalition leader Raila Odinga was identified as the most likely candidate to take on the incumbent, President Ruto, in 2027.

The survey, dubbed #PresidencyTruthMeter, engaged 2,392 respondents from Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nakuru, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, and Nairobi counties.
