Prof. Abraham Kithure Kindiki was on Friday, November 1 sworn in as the third deputy president of the Republic of Kenya since the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution.
Prof. Kindiki took his oath of office in front of a fully-packed Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) at exactly 10:48 am, amid cheers from the Kenyans assembled at the venue.
Chief Justice Martha Koome, who is also the president of the Judiciary, was present to witness the swearing-in ceremony, and provided the instruments of power as well as oversaw Prof. Kindiki signing the two oaths of office he took.
The ceremony saw Members of Parliament, Senators, and Governors from different political divides, as well as high-ranking state officials attend.
Prof. Kindiki takes over from Rigathi Gachagua who was ousted from the top government job by way of impeachment.
