President William Ruto on Friday, October 6, received a raucous welcome to Kisumu during his development tour in the Nyanza region.
This was after thousands of residents turned up to welcome the president with song and dance, in a region perceived as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga’s stronghold.
At the same time, President Ruto appreciated the citizens for turning up to welcome him.
“The people of Kisumu and Nyanza region, thank you for welcoming me, thank you for welcoming me here in Kisumu,” stated President Ruto.
The head of state also thanked the residents for remaining calm during and after the August 2022 general elections.

He also emphasized that it is now time for service delivery as his Kenya Kwanza government was focused on ensuring equitable distribution of resources and development projects across the country.
Ruto was speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kabonyo Fisheries and Aquaculture Service and Training Centre in Nyando, Kisumu County.

The President is in the region for a four-day development tour. According to an official communication from the State House, he is expected to chair a cabinet meeting in Kisumu on Tuesday, October 10.
