In a tragic event in central Indonesia, a woman named Farida was found dead inside a 16-foot python.
The reticulated python, about 16 feet long, had swallowed her whole. This marks the fifth time a python has eaten a person in Indonesia since 2017.
Farida, a 45-year-old mother of four, went missing on Thursday night.
Her husband and the villagers of Kalempang in South Sulawesi province started searching for her when she didn’t return home.
Village head Suardi Rosi said that her husband found some of her belongings, which made him worry. The villagers soon spotted a python with a large belly.
They decided to cut open the snake, and as soon as they did, Farida’s head appeared. She was still fully clothed inside the snake.
A graphic video of the incident was shared by TMZ, showing the snake being cut open in a wooded area.
More footage showed villagers carrying Farida’s body in a blanket, clearly distressed by the tragic discovery.
Upon retrieval, the woman’s body was removed and taken away for burial in the Pitu Riawa district of Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi province.
“I am forever sorry that I let my wife go out alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her,”
The grieving husband said reports of humans being killed by pythons are uncommon in Indonesia.
However, several people have died in recent years after being swallowed whole.
