Industrialisation Principal Secretary Dr Juma Mukhwana has lauded Mount Kenya University (MKU) for promoting quality higher education in the country and beyond.

Speaking during the 24th MKU graduation ceremony at the University’s main campus in Thika on Friday, December 8,  Mukhwana noted that the institution has played a key role in promoting quality higher education.

“Also commendable is Mount Kenya University’s successful effort in ensuring access to quality higher education across the country, in the region, and worldwide through the dual options of face-to-face as well as online modes of study.

“MKU’s support to the students and researchers has led to the development of research-oriented projects that have continued to transform lives,” said Mukhwana.

In addition, the Industrialisation PS noted that MKU has bridged the gap between theoretical learning and practical application by nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship, fostering research and development, and providing a skilled workforce equipped to address the challenges faced by small-scale industries.

“Small-scale industries, often the backbone of many economies, play a vital role in generating employment, driving innovation, and contributing significantly to local value addition and employment creation,” he said.

At the same time, the PS encouraged the graduates to be guided by values instilled in them by MKU, with integrity and perseverance.
