Innovation, entrepreneurship will address joblessness, says environmentalist Isaac Kalua

Green Africa Foundation chairman Dr Isaac Kalua Green has asked Kenyans, and especially the young population to focus on entrepreneurship and innovations in order to address the issue of joblessness in the society.

Speaking at Green Africa Foundation exhibition stand at Kitui Agricultural Show that ended on Saturday, Dr Kalua said there are many opportunities in agribusiness, agroforestry, bee keeping and Eco Tourism to address joblessness among Kenyans and grow the country’s economy.

In particular, he said technological and agricultural innovations stand a better chance of addressing the socioeconomic problems that bedevil the country.

The environmentalist also hailed the success of climate smart Agriculture, especially in semi arid regions such as Kitui, saying if locals adopt the agricultural technologies, it would boost food security.

Dr Kalua noted that Green Africa Foundation through its 14 companies has taken a leading role in coming up with impactful and life changing innovations that address common challenges facing Kenyans.

He said the organization is also connecting producers of different products such as electric cars, electric motorbikes and TukTuks as well as clean cooking jikos with consumers, both local and international.

The environmental expert said he was impressed by the adoption of electric cars and motorcycles in the country saying this will go a long way in reducing carbon emissions which are harmful to both human health and the environment.

Some of the products that were exhibited at the Green Africa Foundation tent included electric cars and motorbikes, hand driven ploughs, modern energy saving stoves, high yielding modern beehives among others.
