U.S Senator boldly twerks on a beach in search for votes

If you thought the vote-hunting antics of our local politicians were racy, and in particular by one yellow-wearing Senator who shakes her pronounced behind with aplomb-, then you have not met U.S Senator Tiara Mack.

Recently, she posted an 8-second campaign clip of herself twerking upside down on a beach.

Posted on TikTok page, the video went viral, sparking mixed reaction from friends and foe. Her TikTok account was temporarily. She also received death threats, reports the 'New York Post'.

“It was a way to show that elected officials can be silly and have fun and enjoy a day off,” Tiara who is seeking re-election in Rhode Island State said. “My behavior on my Twitter, Instagram and TikTok are consistent with a young millennial who is in office and challenging norms.”

Tiara is only 28. She was first elected in 2020.

She told the Associated Press that through the controversial video, she is “showing that leadership looks different and welcoming people into the many different facets of my life.”

The Democrat said she hopes to use the attention from the video to raise awareness on issues relating to education, advocacy, abortion rights, environmental protection, and the income gaps.  

She rode on a hashtag #twerkfor to promote her goals.

The U.S midterm elections will be held on November 8, 2022. All the 435 U.S House seats and 34 of the 100 Senate seats are on the ballot.
