Tanzanian diplomat killed in a car crash

Tanzania's ambassador to Austria Celestine Mushi has died in a car crash. 

The envoy was travelling from Dar es Salaam to the Kilimanjaro region of the country when the accident occurred on Thursday, December, 15. 

Mushi was also a permanent representative of Tanzania to other international organisations in Vienna, Austria.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Celestine Mushi," said Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu. “We have lost a person who had great contributions in diplomacy and public service." 

Mushi was driving alone at the time of the accident. 

Tanga District Commissioner Siriel Mchembe said his body was taken to the local district mortuary. 

Appointed to the ambassadorial position in January this year, Mushi had presented his credentials to Austria's president Alexander van der Bellen on May 5.
