    Events leading to arrest

It all started when the alleged victim sought employment as a domestic worker in the Middle East.

The agency that was planning to facilitate her travel to the Middle East then sent her to a nearby medical laboratory along Lumumba Avenue to test for HIV, as that was mandatory.

“She did the tests on February 6. On February 14, she was called by the suspect to go pick her results. The results indicated that she was HIV positive, which she disputed. She did another test at another facility and results came out negative,” Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says.

But the victim's plans came to a halt since the employment agency only accepts HIV results from that particular medical facility along Lumumba Drive, prompting her to take the new negative results to the suspect.

It is at this point, as reported by Owoyesigyire, that the suspect told the victim that he would only give her negative HIV results after she sleeps with him.

Proverbial 40 days of a thief

At this point, the victim accepted the arrangement, but covertly informed the employment agency, which in turn informed the police to nab the suspect in the act.

The suspect planned the 'date' with the victim at Biva Hotel in Rubaga Division, where they would have sex before providing her with HIV negative results.

“She informed our officers and they tracked the duo until they were in the lodge and it was time to have sex. That is when our officers stormed the area and arrested him and later took him to Nateete Police Station where he was detained,” the police deputy spokesperson added.

Apparently, the suspect denied any wrongdoing, insisting that his relationship with the victim was a consensus between two adults.
