The man who murdered avid Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards fan Isaac Juma has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Kakamega High Court.
Milton Namatsi reportedly attacked Juma on January 27, 2022, at his home in Bukayu village, Mumias West, and fatally assaulted him.
In a verdict delivered on Thursday, November 30, 2023, Lady Justice Chirchir Chebet stated that the 27-year-old was found guilty of murdering Isaac Juma based on the evidence presented in court by detectives.
Justice Chebet noted that Namatsi, a former football coach, has not exhibited remorse or admitted regret for his actions despite being in custody for eight months.
In April 2021, nine months before his murder, Juma made it public that his life was in danger due to a land dispute and called for the help of relevant authorities.
In the interview, Isaac Juma revealed that a family member sought to seize a two-acre piece of land left to him by his parents.
“Every time I leave Kakamega to attend sports events, they attempt to alter the ownership of that land. But I have remained steadfast in protecting my land. Because of this, I have received threats of murder,” Juma said in April 2021.
