James Harden joins elite 3,000 Three-Point Club alongside Stephen Curry

Clippers guard James Harden made his 3,000th three-pointer in a 126-122 win over the Denver Nuggets, joining Steph Curry as the only players to do so in NBA history.

Harden hit three 3-pointers in the first half and three in the second half to finish the game with 39 points and 11 assists and a rebound away from a triple double.

“Another one of those accomplishments that you never take for granted,” Harden said. “The amount of work that I’ve put in—countless days and nights where I put the work in—a lot of people don’t see it, but the results happen, so I’m just thankful.”

Harden trails Warriors guard Steph Curry by 806 three-pointers, making him the second-highest three-point shooter in history.

It has been an impressive week for the beard as he also dropped a 40-point game against the Washington Wizards, marking his 100th 40-point game. Joining Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, and MJ as the only ones to ever do it.

The Clippers are 13-9 without their star player, Kawhi Leonard, who hasn’t played the entire season due to injury.

Kawhi’s injury has made Harden tap into his dominant Houston days since being the Clippers number one offensive option.

“He had that first quarter against Washington where he reminded people, ‘Hey, I can still go out here and drop 40 on you real quick.” Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone said.

The 35-year-old veteran has displayed incredible playmaking and engaged teammates in his offensive prowess. As noted by teammate Norman Powell, who is mostly the Clippers secondary offensive option.

“It’s difficult to see from afar, but on the floor, knowing when to attack, knowing when to get his shot off, knowing when to get the guys open, and knowing the pass that he makes. He knows how to get guys open and to get the most out of the team,” said Powell.
