Jane Mwende, the hairdresser who disappeared mysteriously from her workplace in Mlolongo, Machakos County, a fortnight ago has been found dead.
The decomposing body of Mwende was found in a pit latrine a few kilometres from her workplace on Tuesday, September 12.
Machakos County Police Commander Patrick Lobolia says that the body was discovered after the suspects in the case led officers to the scene.
The discovery brings to an end a two-week search for the 29-year-old hairdresser who went missing after receiving a phone call, never to return.
After their arrest last week, the suspects – a couple – had taken detectives in a circle, taking them to Magongo forest in Wote, Makueni County, Kiserian in Kajiado County before finaly revealing the actual scene in Mlolongo.
What happened?
On Friday, August 25 while at her workplace – a popular salon in the area, Mwende received a phone call.
Apparently, the caller posed as a possible client in need of Mwende services at their home.
She left the salon never to return.
Her colleagues were concerned when she did not report to work the following day, neither could she be reached on phone.
