Jason Momoa admits his teenagers dont own phones: “Kids don’t need screens they need creativity”

Hollywood star Jason Momoa has drawn a firm line when it comes to technology in his household.

The Aquaman actor refuses to give his children phones, a TV, or video games, insisting they develop their own creativity instead.

Speaking to Deadline ahead of the Minecraft movie premiere, Momoa made it clear: his kids will navigate the digital world only when they’re adults.

“We don’t have a TV,” he said.

“My son doesn’t even have a phone. He’s 16 and doesn’t have one. We’re different. When he turns 18 and leaves the house, he can explore that world.”

For Momoa, imagination trumps screens. “I just want them to use their creativity in different ways,” he added,

Emphasizing that his family engages in hands-on activities instead of mindlessly staring at screens.

The actor then got blunt about modern tech dependency.

“People were just fine before phones. No one told me what to do, and I had to figure it out,” he said.

However, Momoa isn’t entirely against screen time—he and his kids watch movies together as a family.

Many social media users backed his stance. “Too many parents shove iPads and phones at their kids—it’s a lazy way to parent,” one commenter wrote.

Meanwhile, concerns over screen addiction are growing.

Last year, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) banned phone use during school hours, citing concerns over students’ inability to focus and interact in real life.

Momoa’s message is clear: kids don’t need screens—they need experiences.
