Jay-Z’s attorney has firmly dismissed the recent rape accusations against the rap icon, calling them “provably demonstrably false” and driven by financial motives.
Speaking on Monday at Roc Nation’s New York headquarters, lawyer Alex Spiro presented evidence he claims will discredit the allegations and prove the incident “never happened.”
The accusations, filed in an amended lawsuit on December 8, allege that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually assaulted a teenage girl at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards after-party.
The woman, referred to as Jane Doe, claims she was drugged and assaulted while another female celebrity watched.
Spiro, who has taken a strong stance on behalf of the Roc Nation founder, emphasized the inconsistencies in the accuser’s story and accused the legal action of being a “blackmail attempt” rather than a pursuit of truth and justice.
“This is not for truth and justice. This is for money,” Spiro said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jay-Z has vehemently denied the allegations and filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit on December 9.
Spiro further underscored that multiple witnesses are willing to come forward to debunk the claims, adding weight to his defense of the rap mogul.
The woman recently admitted to “some mistakes” in her recollection of the events during an NBC News interview but insisted that her allegations still stand.
However, her father contradicted her earlier statement that he had picked her up from the after-party, raising further questions about the accuracy of her claims.
“These are not minor inconsistencies,” Spiro told reporters. “If you look at the time, it’s not possible this could happen.”
The lawsuit, which has drawn significant media attention, comes amid other allegations involving Diddy.
The mounting scrutiny has led Jay-Z’s legal team to act swiftly in disputing the claims, stating that the evidence and witness testimonies will expose the story as false.
The allegations have sent ripples through the entertainment industry, yet Jay-Z remains steadfast in his denial of any wrongdoing.
As Spiro concluded his remarks, he reiterated that the truth would emerge through the presented evidence and the voices of those ready to testify.
Jay-Z’s camp is confident that the inconsistencies will speak louder than the accusations.
