EACC on Tuesday, May 21 arraigned one Jecintah Adoyo, Personal Assistant to the Chairperson of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), over forgery of academic certificates.
Adoyo is accused of forging a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts Degree Certificates purporting that they are genuine documents awarded by the University of Nairobi, which she used to secure employment at CRA.
Appearing before Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, the accused pleaded not guilty to charges of fraudulent acquisition of public property, forgery, uttering false document, giving false information to a person employed in public service, and deceiving principal. ‘
The court heard that on 4th July 2017, she produced the same certificates to the interviewing panel during an interview purporting them to be genuine while knowing they were fake.
That she knowingly gave false information to the EACC on 12th July 2017 by stating that she possessed the said qualifications when she filled in her Self Declaration Form for purposes of seeking clearance for employment as a Senior Analyst/Personal Assistant to the Chairperson at CRA. And that on 1st August 2018 at the CRA offices in Nairobi, she knowingly and intentionally deceived her principal by stating that she had the said qualifications, which information she knew was false.
Principal Magistrate Celesa Okore released her on a bond of KSh2 million with a surety of a similar amount or cash bail of KSh1 million.
The matter will be mentioned on 17th June, 2024.
The accused worked at CRA from August 2017 during which she fraudulently earned a salary amounting to KSh15,224,522.
EACC will file a civil suit to recover the amount.
