The Jubilee party faction led by nominated member of parliament (MP) Sabina Chege and Kanini Kega has encouraged Kenyans to register for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
This was part of the party’s resolutions during the party’s parliamentary group and national executive committee meeting on December 5, 2024.
In a press statement, the party expressed its commitment to supporting the Kenya Kwanza government in implementation of affordable healthcare and housing for citizens.
“We have taken note that the implementation of Taifa Care through the Social Health Insurance Fund is ongoing and continue to encourage engagement between the government and the people to ensure that these progressive ideas succeed,” read part of the Jubilee party statement.
In addition, the party noted that it will seek to take part in the ongoing mass sensitization and registration of Kenyans across all constituencies.
“Whereas we appreciate that challenges are inevitable, we call upon Kenyans to embrace patriotism that promotes our country as opposed to extreme negativity on government and government agenda.
“Let’s be objectively critical but not unnecessarily negative, let’s seek the right answers without hurting each other. The country belongs to all of us and it’s everyone’s responsibility to make it a better place,” stated the Jubilee leaders.
Led by Sabina Chege, the Jubilee leaders noted that the Party started the Big 4 agenda that included affordable healthcare, housing and manufacturing and will continue to support the implementation of this agenda by the current government.
“We are keen on ensuring the government of the day serves the interests of the people and the peace and tranquility that we have enjoyed this far is not watered down.
“We note the government deliverables and we appreciate the government’s effort on, among others;-
a) The hiring of teachers and direct conversion of interns to permanent and pensionable.
b) The effective implementation of the fertilizer subsidy programme that has guaranteed the republic food security.
c) The stabilization of the Kenyan shilling against the dollar.
d) Stabilization of fuel prices.
e) Improvement of the tourism sector.
f) Streamlining of immigration systems.”
At the same time, the party leaders acknowledged that the party has been grappling with several court issues concerning the leadership for a while now.
“The crux of this cases is the leadership’s discontent with the conduct of certain party officials especially, one errant one.
“These cases are now in the Court of Appeal and we are confident that the courts will deliver justice. We appreciate our members who have remained steadfast as we continue to let the course of justice take effect,” the leaders stated.
