Coach Mildred Cheche has unveiled the Junior Starlets’ traveling squad for their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifier against Uganda. The first leg is set for Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Nakivubo Stadium, with kickoff at 4:00 PM EAT.
The squad features a blend of emerging talents and experienced players from the previous qualification campaign, including team captain Halima Imbachi, Mitshel Waithera, Lorine Ilavonga, Jenevive Mithel, Elizabeth Ochaka, Joy Angela Valencia, Joan Ogola, and Lindy Weey.
Fresh from their historic World Cup debut in the Dominican Republic, the Junior Starlets are eager to build on that experience and secure an early advantage in the two-legged tie. Coach Cheche expressed confidence in her squad, highlighting their motivation and readiness for the challenge.
“The girls are feeling motivated and ready for the match. We’ve prepared well, we are in high spirits, and the team is eager to perform,” she said.
The team is scheduled to depart for Uganda on March 6, with the return leg set for Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Nairobi. The home fixture will kick off at 3:00 PM EAT. The aggregate winner will progress to the third round of the qualification campaign.
