JW Foundation to release Ksh2 million to support needy students in Webuye West

The Joseph Waswa (JW) Foundation has set aside Ksh2 million for supporting bright but needy students in Webuye West Constituency through its Education Support Scheme Program.

According to the foundation chairman Joseph Lendrix Waswa, the move is aimed at easing the financial burden on struggling families.

Speaking to TV47, Waswa expressed his dedication to ensuring all children in Webuye West, regardless of their financial background, have access to qualityeducation.

“My foundation is rolling out the Education Support Scheme Program worth Ksh2 million that will ensure at least needy but bright students benefit from the scheme and continue with their studies,” he stated.

The initiative comes at a time when many students across the country face financial hardships that threaten their ability to complete their studies.

Waswa’s foundation aims to bridge this gap by providing essential school fees assistance, ensuring deserving students do not drop out due to financial constraints.

Meanwhile, the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi had earlier assured school heads that the government will disburse Ksh48.8 billion to schools as part of the capitation program to ease financial strains in learning institutions.

Speaking in Garsen Constituency, Mbadi revealed that the capitation funds had been delayed due to the country’s debt challenges but assured school heads that the money would be credited to school accounts soon.

“Schools, please don’t worry. I am giving you my word that Ksh48.8 billion for capitation will be in your school accounts because we are releasing it next week,” Mbadi stated.

This disbursement will be half of the total capitation funds required for the academic year, with the remainder set to be paid in subsequent phases.

According to the Ministry of Education, capitation funds for the first term of the 2025 academic year will be distributed as follows: Free Primary Education: Sh4.1 billion, Free Day Junior School Education: Sh15.3 billion and Free Day Secondary School Education: Sh28.9 billion.

Additionally, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba outlined the capitation disbursement structure for the entire year.

Schools will receive 30% of the funds in term two and the remaining 20% in term three to ensure smooth operations throughout the academic calendar.

While the government’s capitation provides relief to schools, private initiatives like the Joseph Lendrix Waswa Foundation play a critical role in supporting individual students.
