Kai Havertz scores as Arsenal beat Bournemouth

SportsWORLD

Kai Havertz marked his debut goal for Arsenal in a convincing 4-0 Premier League triumph over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

In his tenth appearance for the Gunners since his £65 million summer transfer from Chelsea, Havertz calmly converted from the penalty spot to extend his side’s lead to 3-0 early in the second half.

This penalty came after Ryan Christie recklessly fouled Martin Odegaard in the 53rd minute.

Bukayo Saka had previously given Arsenal the lead with a close-range header in the 17th minute, and Odegaard added another from the penalty spot just before halftime in the 44th minute.

Ben White’s stoppage-time header in the 93rd minute put the finishing touch on a straightforward victory for the visiting team on the southern coast.

With this result, Arsenal maintains their unbeaten record in the Premier League this season, accumulating 17 points from seven games.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth remain without a victory and drops into the relegation zone.

Arsenal faced a potential shortage of eight first-team players due to injuries before the match, but the late fitness clearances for Saka, Declan Rice, and William Saliba provided a much-needed boost.

It was Saka who broke the deadlock in the 17th minute with an astute goal.

A well-executed Arsenal play saw captain Odegaard deliver a cross to the far post, where Gabriel Jesus’ header struck the woodwork before falling to the English winger, who nodded it home from close range.

This marked Saka’s first Premier League goal against Bournemouth in his fifth encounter with them.

Arsenal have now won five of their opening seven matches and are second on the log, just a point of defending champions Manchester City who lost 2-1 away to Wolves.
