Kaizer Chiefs to face disciplinary committee after fans riot

Kaizer Chiefs have been accused of misbehaviour by the Premier Soccer League (PSL). The PSL has found Kaizer Chief of wrongdoing following the heated scenes at Mbombela Stadium following Amakhosi’s defeat by TS Galaxy.

Chiefs will come before the Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee on August 29 to face misconduct charges for their misbehaviour by their fans, according to PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu.

As the Chiefs fell to the Rockets in Sunday’s DStv Premiership match in Mbombela, angry Chiefs supporters vented their frustration at coach Molefi Ntseki.

After the game, Amakhosi supporters were seen hurling things in Ntseki’s direction. Amakhosi had lost to Galaxy 1-0.

No one was hurt, according to the witnesses, but the league has now filed charges, and the Chiefs will go before the Disciplinary Committee next week.

Ntseki had acknowledged that the new season had a shaky beginning and that they would return to the drawing board to make up for their mistakes.

The choice by Ntseki to retain playing Brandon Petersen, who allowed an own goal against Galaxy, in goal, angered Amakhosi supporters.

Chiefs have so far lost to Mamelodi Sundowns and drawn to Chippa United, despite the fact that they have already secured a berth in the MTN8 semi-finals by defeating Cape Town City.
