More than 300 families in Kajiado West have been dispaced by the ongoing floods following a heavy rainfall in the area.
Devastated families from Pakaase and shompole villages were forced to relocate to safer grounds after River Ewaso Nyiro burst its banks, causing floods to those areas.
The ongoing floods have contributed to food shortage within the affected areas.
Sub-counties affected include Magadi and Kajiado west.
The incident has also affected the newly rehabilitated Magadi roads, putting all road users at risk.

Kajiado West Member of Parliament, George Sunkuyia, stated that the desperate victims relocated to safer houses due to fear of waterborne diseases.
Sunkuyia has urged humanitarian organizations and the Kenya Red Cross to supply food aid to the affected families.

He stated, “Residents in the affected areas are facing a severe food shortage, and certain locations are inaccessible. We ask the authorities to intervene.”

Former Kajiado County Assembly Speaker and Magadi Ward MCA, Joseph Masiaya, echoed his statement, urging humanitarian organizations to provide food to the affected families.
“ Residents are facing humanitarian crisis. We urgently need food and other basic needs, the situation is getting worse each day,” said Masiaya
