Kakamega mother jumps into a river with her twins

A 34-year-old woman is being treated at Kakamega District Hospital under strict police protection.

This is after she jumped in river Isukhu at the border of Shinyalu and Lurambi in Kakamega county with her 2-year-old twins.

The incident was reported by people who witnessed the lady jumping with her two babies.

According to the woman’s family, led by her mother Lilian Itsiambo , the woman had left her home in Mukulusu heading to her rural home to attend a burial event.

Nearby residents managed to rescue her but were unable to save the children.

However, the body of the female child was found as efforts to recover the body of the male child is still underway.

The Kakamega OCPD, Valerian Obore, reported that one of the individuals conducting business in the river rescued the woman.

The family is now calling for well wishers to help them in the recovery of the boy’s body.

Mother who threw baby in Indian Ocean

Two weeks earlier, a similar incident was witnessed in Mombasa County.

A mother who was on board at the Likoni Ferry threw her 8 months old baby.

Divers who were present swang into action to help the helpless infant.

A video that circulated on social media showed how angry Kenyans were hailing the rescuers for their herroism.

The baby luckily survived the incident after red cross administered first aid.

“She was rushed for first aid at the Red Cross Centre, treated and discharged in fair condition and her mother taken to the police station for interrogation,” reads a report filed at the Ferry Police Station.
