Kalonzo meets Kikuyu elders as he intensifies campaigns for 2027 elections

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka will on Thursday April 4, 2024 meet the Kikuyu Council of Elders in Kiambu as he intensifies his campaigns for the 2027 elections.

A section of the Kamba Council of Elders will also attend the meeting that will be chaired by Kalonzo in Kiambu.

The meeting with Kikuyu Council of Elders in Ruaka, Kiambu County is part of Kalonzo’s efforts to win the support of Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 elections.

This was after Wiper head of communications Paroma Gatabaki confirmed in a statement that everything was set for Kalonzo’s meeting with the Kikuyu elders.

“Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will meet with elders from the Kikuyu Council of Elders and the Kamba Council of Elders,” Gatabaki noted in a statement.

The meeting comes at a time when the Wiper party leader has intensified his countrywide tours, opening more party offices and meeting grassroots leaders in different parts of the country.

For instance, Kalonzo toured Mombasa, Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties where he opened party offices as he urged residents to register as Wiper party members.

Kalonzo is one of the opposition leaders hoping to succeed Azimio leader Raila Odinga, in case the former prime minister succeeds in his bid to become chairperson for the African Union Commission.

In most of his countrywide tours, Kalonzo was accompanied by DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa.

According to political analysts, Kalonzo and Wamalwa are working on a joint presidential ticket to face President William Ruto at the ballot in the 2027 elections.

However, Kalonzo is facing stiff competition for the Azimio ticket from Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua and other ODM leaders who are also seeking to take over from Raila.
