Kalonzo: There’s no political alliance between Uhuru and Ruto

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday December 15, 2024 said that there is no political alliance between President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during a church service at AIPCA Gathage Church in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, Kalonzo said that he understands the former president very well and there is no way Uhuru can form an alliance with the Kenya Kwanza government.

“I understand my brother Uhuru Kenyatta very well, in his statement, he did not mention anything about working with the Kenya Kwanza government.

“What I remember about Uhuru’s statement after meeting Ruto is that he emphasized the need for a strong opposition. Uhuru also stated that they discussed, among other issues, the need for enhancing democracy in the country, where the opposition can perform its role without fear of intimidation,” said Kalonzo.

In addition, Kalonzo supported that idea of the church denying politicians a chance to speak during a church service.

“I fully support the stand of the church. I would be very happy if, Archbishop, you said Kalonzo and your team will not speak here, because people are tired of politicians using the church altar to propagate propaganda for selfish political gains.

“I understand the challenge the church is facing when it comes to managing politicians. The Catholic church and the Anglican Church had already declared their position on the matter,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Wiper party leader explained that the Church should be at the forefront in criticizing the Kenya Kwanza regime for abductions and killings of youth, the high cost of living and the disastrous SHA/SHIF.

After the church service, Kalonzo addressed crowds of people at Gatundu market where he emphasized the need for reconstituting a new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

“I do not meet Ruto at midnight! Regarding the president, I’m only interested in sending him home as soon as possible and that is why we must reconstitute the IEBC before the end of the year,” he stated.

His remarks emerged barely a week after President Ruto visited former President Uhuru Kenyatta at his family home in Gatundu.

During the meeting on December 9, 2024, the two leaders engaged in meaningful discussions centered on national and regional interests, showcasing their dedication to the nation’s welfare.

President Ruto expressed his admiration for Kenyatta’s role in ensuring a peaceful power transition after the 2022 elections.

He lauded the former leader’s continued goodwill and collaborative spirit, which have been instrumental in supporting Kenya’s development journey.
