Kalonzo to Ruto: I don’t want Cabinet millions

Azimio-One Kenya Coalition Co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka says that the four ODM officials appointed to Cabinet Secretary positions should join President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.

Speaking on Sunday, July 28, Kalonzo could not fathom how the four would work in a government that they strongly opposed on grounds that it is oppressing Kenyans.

Kalonzo also ordered all his Wiper Party MPs in the National Assembly to reject the four CS nominees during the vetting process, insisting that he was not consulted as an opposition co-principal before their appointment.

He also said that he rejected, and will continue to reject any offer from President Ruto to join his government in any capacity, because that will be tantamount to betraying the Kenyan people.

“Mimi acha niwe na vijana wetu (Gen Z), the humble and the lowly, badala ya kuketi na William Ruto ambaye anasema ‘kuja uingie kwa Cabinet utapata manono…mimi sitaki hiyo millions, mshahara na allowances because it is dividing the spoils with the proud,” Kaonzo said.

He also emphasized on justice for the killed youths during the anti-government protests across the country, claiming that may be the bodies retrieved from a quarry in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Embakasi South, were victims of police brutality.

“Damu ya watoto wetu inalia kutoka kwa mchanga. Rex Masai alipigwa risasi akafa akaja akazikwa pale. Watoto wengi wamefariki wakazikwa kwa sababu ya polisi. Hata miili iliyopatikana Mukuru Kwa Njenga huenda ikawa waliuawa na polisi na miili yao kukatwakatwa ili watudanganye hawakuuawa na polisi,” he added.
