‘Kama hutaki kuzunguka kaa nyumbani kwako,’ Oscar Sudi tells DP Gachagua

Kapseret member of parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has insisted he will continue travelling across the country to aid vulnerable groups and churches with development issues.

This is after deputy president Rigathi Gachagua criticized some Rift Valley leaders, questioning their source of money, as they have been moving around in helicopters distributing cash.

Gachagua did not call out anyone specifically but advised MPs to focus on their constituencies and avoid engaging in political tours.

“Where are these resources coming from, for politicking, when Kenyans are suffering? Choppers are being hired left, right and centre.

“Millions of shillings are being dished and Kenyans are suffering,” Gachagua said during a fundraiser in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County on Saturday May 25, 2024.

“I urge the MPs to stay in their Constituency and serve their people. The habit of political tourism must stop. This is what is giving us trouble,” he added.

Sudi responded to the comments by stating he wouldn’t be intimidated into halting his travels to aid churches.

He mentioned learning the practice from President William Ruto and highlighted that the Kenya Kwanza government’s success was due to not confining themselves to their constituencies.

“Jana niliona wajumbe wengi wamesanyana huko Kesses wanasema kuna mtu anakoroga hapa, sijui kuna mtu pale. Sasa ukienda useme huyu Oscar Sudi asizunguke, akae kwa constituency na wakati unaongea uko kwa constituency ya mwingine na mko wabunge karibu 30 hiyo si ni contradiction (Yesterday, I saw a team of leaders in Kesses saying someone is causing a rift here and there. If you say Sudi should not leave his constituency and at the time you are talking you are in another constituency with about 30 MPs, is that not a contradiction)?” Sudi said without mentioning names.

He went on: “Wale wote walikua Kesses pale walikua wanatumia helicopter tukiwa opposition na walizunguka Kenya mzima ndo wakajulikana mpaka wakapata hiyo cheo wako nayo.  Kama hutaki kuzunguka kaa nyumbani kwako. Tafuteni mtu mwingine wa Kutisha, mimi nilipita vitisho kitambo,” said Sudi.

Sudi made the remarks while speaking during a fundraiser at AIC Kipkorgot Church, where he defended his financial sources, emphasizing that he was not in a position of power when he entered politics.

Meanwhile, Sudi reiterated his support for President Ruto and DP Gachagua, referring to them as Kenya Kwanza candidates in 2027.
